My mom watched the kids for a few hours so Mike and I could hike down around the cliffs by the beach. He had never done this before and it was fun finding lots of treasures from the sea. We even got to watch the sun set over the ocean. 
Apparently some time ago someone owned some peacocks in Palos Verdes. Somehow they got loose and now there is a section in town where a ton of them live wild , roaming around from house to house scavenging for food. It really is kind of an odd sight. We went on a peacock hunt and found about 20 of them. Blake thought it was the coolest thing in the world. (so did I-aren't peacocks just beautiful)
And Labor Day wouldn't be Labor Day without labor. Mike and Mom spent much of the weekend repairing Mom's wooden fence damaged by a giant scary carpenter bee that scared the junk out of me.

What the heck is a carpenter bee? I've never heard of such a thing. It does look a bit creepy, but how can it damage a fence? That is was is scary to me.
Sounds like a fun weekend. The carpenter bee is a little freaky looking, I'm impressed you got close enough to take a picture. I've been thinking about you guys. Hope you are doing well.
I hate carpenter bees. We had one flying around early on when we were building our addition. They are yucky. I saw a bee when I was up in Utah that was huge. Looked like a normal bee but about 3 times the size. It was sitting on a sunflower. I had to take a picture of it but since the flower is so big, the bee just looks like normal size. Peacocks are cool. My aunt has a bunch of them on her farm in northern Ca. Looks like a fun weekend.

It was still there? R & J and the girls saw the monster bee. Mom was showing the boys some repairs around the house she was thinking of doing when it appeared. What could two lawyers do about it though? Mom had to wait for Mike to take care of it, of course:)
I have peacock issue since growing up in Arcadia it's the town bird and hundred's of them roam freely. If you "accidently" hit one with your car, it's a hefty fine. Also when I worked for a vet. down there, we declucked two peacocks. Everyday I had to change their cage. Like typical birds, they would stomp around their cage. One day, they stomped so much, they flicked poo in my coworkers face. Glad it wasn't me.
